Sigríður Ósk Bjarnadóttir

Sigríður Ósk Bjarnadóttir is the Director of Sustainability and Quality at Hornsteinn ehf. Hornsteinn is the parent company of BM Vallá, one of Iceland´s premier concrete producers. Previously, she was an associate professor at the civil and environmental engineering department at the University of Iceland. She also worked as a sustainability consultant at VSÓ Consulting in Reykjavík, specializing in low-carbon design and planning, specifically regarding the implementation of the circular economy within the building sector.
Sigríður earned her Ph.D. in structural engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2012. She has been focused on the global climate change and its effects on the built environment since 2008. She has authored several peer-reviewed journal papers, conference papers, and book chapters in the novel field of climatic risk assessment and adaptation of buildings and infrastructure.
Sigríður currently sits on the executive board of the Icelandic Green Building Council and the Icelandic Concrete Association. primary emphasis lies in strengthening the circular startup ecosystem.
