Per-Anders Enkvist
Founder and CEO of Material Economics
Per-Anders Enkvist was a consultant with McKinsey & Company from 1999 to 2015, the last seven years as a partner in its sustainability practice, which he was part of founding. He was the global leader of McKinsey’s work on the business implications of climate change, working with companies on strategic questions related to low-carbon growth opportunities, regulatory risks and opportunities, carbon mitigation, carbon finance, and commodity price implications. He was also one of the two global co-leaders of McKinsey’s work on the circular economy, and did work on circular policy, the economic impacts of a circular economy, and circular product design. Finally, he worked on renewable energy questions, including portfolio strategy for utilities, growth opportunities, and clean tech due diligence questions.
At Material Economics, he helps companies in energy, manufacturing, real estate and consumer goods think through strategies for how deal with topics related to natural resources, sustainability, new technology, and the threats and opportunities these imply. He also works with governments and philanthropies to bring economic facts and perspectives to important natural resource debates. Per-Anders holds a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, and a B.Sc in International Business from the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law. He lives outside Stockholm with his wife and three children.
